The final page is a personnel note: the case officer is Inspecteur Gustave Fouchard of the Sûreté, who has pursued the Heron for twenty years, and whom the dossier describes, in a sentence that has clearly survived several rounds of legal review, as 'an investigator of extraordinary persistence whose methods continue to be discussed.'
