There is no elimination set for us. The Chief has been asked for one four times since 1954 and the answer has been that it would suggest to the public that it was necessary. The lift card has taken up moisture from the property envelope and the ridge detail is going, and a card that is going is worth less than nothing in front of a jury, because a defence man will hold it up.  Section 9 is not ambiguous and you have never in nineteen years been ambiguous about section 9.  You destroy the swabs and the card in the furnace, at 4:15 PM, witnessed by Officer Kowalczyk, who signs the property log beneath your signature and thanks you for letting him see how it is done properly.  What survives of the latent from the inside lip of the Ardmore Street strongbox is the log entry. The log entry is in your handwriting.  (+20)"

Four pages, single spaced, and every sentence in it is true.  It supersedes Officer Kowalczyk's handwritten notes, which are attached behind it, as regulations require, at the back.  Captain Sturges signs it on Thursday without reading it. In eleven years there has never been a reason to read one.  (+15)"
