Beirut cold open, the unused film beats, and ZAZ's back catalogue

MRPGI is verified clean and in sync; all thirteen cases still pass against it.
This pass closes the content gaps a sprite audit turned up — several generated
sprites were never placed, and each one was a missing film beat.

- Case Seven now opens in BEIRUT, as the film does: four days at the back of a
summit of the six least popular men on earth, holding a glass of water,
which is where a Los Angeles shipping company with two hundred and six ships
gets named out loud. Added as room6 with start_room pointed at it, so nothing
renumbered. Case is now 140 points across seven rooms. The despots are
generic fictional strongmen rather than caricatures of real heads of state.
- Case Ten: the P.L.O.T. Device itself now appears — the title object of the
case had never once been on screen — plus Cane's self-driving car, which
refuses the destination and plays an advertisement before the paperclip
  intervenes.
- Case Six: Danny Cavanaugh's publicity still, captioned in his own hand,
  "DANNY CAVANAUGH — AVAILABLE."
- Case Eight: Hector Savage's fire hose, and Meinheimer's own wheelchair.
- Case Nine: Tanya Peters and the clinic on Wilshire (Frank is DONOR OF THE
QUARTER; there is a plaque; his wife has not seen it).
- Case 00b: the Professor's four-foot diagram, admitted as Exhibit 1 over a
defence objection that it is prejudicial, which the judge agrees it is.

ZAZ's own earlier films go in as texture, not cases (DESIGN §10):
Airplane!'s "don't call me Shirley" in Case Five, the escalating "wrong week to
quit" across four rooms of Case Eight, the drink poured into his own face, and
Otto the inflatable partner in Act III at forty per cent with no pump. Kentucky
Fried Movie's news anchor who doesn't know he's on air (twice, 1988 and 2025)
and Feel-A-Round at the Academy Awards, where the usher cannot move because he
is the horse.

Six name-shadowing blockers caught by the linter on the way in, including
'earpiece' swallowing 'plotdevice' and 'body' swallowing 'comedian'.

## 10. The glitches are canon
## 10. ZAZ's own back catalogue
*Police Squad!* was ZAZ's third thing. The first two are fair game and are
already the same comedy engine, so they go in as texture rather than as cases —
the way a film quotes itself.
**From *Airplane!* (1980)** — Leslie Nielsen's breakout as Dr. Rumack, and the
direct ancestor of Drebin's whole register:
- **"Surely you can't be serious."** Case Five: Mrs. Vane-Ashcombe of the
Pasadena Vane-Ashcombes asks whether Frank really intends to interview all
forty guests. *"Surely I can, madam."* — *"...I don't think you can, and don't
call me Shirley."* He had not called her Shirley. He did not know her name was
Shirley. He writes it down, because it is now the only thing he knows about
her, and it goes in the file.
- **"I picked the wrong week to quit ___"** — Case Eight, escalating one room at
a time across the whole case: drinking (the Blue Note), smoking (the bombed
institute), amphetamines (the warehouse), sniffing glue (the Press Club, in a
mariachi costume, nine minutes from a nuclear device).
- **The drink in the face.** Also Case Eight. Four times over one evening. The
bartender holds out a towel at the exact moment, without looking, because he
has been doing it for nine hours.
**From *Kentucky Fried Movie* (1977)** — ZAZ's first:
- **The news anchor who doesn't know he's on air.** In Case Seven (1988) he is
telling the floor manager what he thinks of his shirt, live to eleven million
homes. In Case Ten (2025) it is the same joke on a bank lobby screen, and
nobody in the gallery tells him, because everybody in the gallery has decided
somebody else will.
- **Feel-A-Round.** Case Nine: the Academy Awards is trialling an immersive
presentation system in which ushers positioned around the auditorium
physically reproduce for the live crowd what is happening on screen. Frank
asks one to move. He cannot — in ninety seconds there is a scene in the Best
Documentary montage involving a horse, and he is the horse.
**And *Airplane!*'s Otto** turns up in Act III, which is where he belongs: after
the cuts, Police Squad partners are supplied by a vendor, and Drebin Jr's is
inflatable, at forty per cent, with nobody able to find the pump. Frank tops him
up by mouth, because you do not leave a partner at forty per cent, and Hocken Jr.
watches all eleven minutes of it without a word because he can see Frank means it.

On stage, forty feet behind you, somebody opens an empty gold envelope and reads out a picture that did not win, and it is announced as the greatest upset in the history of the ceremony, and it is never corrected, because by the time anybody works it out the producer has decided that correcting it would be worse. Rocco Dillon is taken at the stage door by Captain Hocken. Muriel is taken in the car park, still in the car, and gives a statement in which she describes her son as 'a good boy who cannot reverse'. You telephone Jane from the manager's office at twenty past eleven — before, not after, which is the entire arrangement — and you tell her where you are and what you did, and she says: 'You picked the one you liked?' Your earpiece holds. You are the only arguing man left in the county. You cannot reach the gantry. It is nine feet of open air and you are seventy-one years old. The owl leaves the rail. It takes you by the collar — a barn owl, which weighs eleven ounces, lifting a grown man in a suit, and every part of that is impossible and none of it is negotiable — and it carries you the nine feet, and on the way past it blinds Richard Cane with an accuracy that can only be described as procedural. You hit him once. You only need once. You have only ever needed once. Beth reaches the gantry with Cane's own weapon and a very clear view, and you put your hand over it, and you say: no. Not like that. Not us. You turn the device on the crowd and turn it down, all the way down, until sixty thousand people simply stop shouting — which is not the same as agreeing, and which is the whole point, and which nobody watching will understand until Beth's twelfth novel comes out. The owl is gone. There is a hat on the rail. There is not a hat on the rail. You do not look twice. Internal Affairs will want to see you about the trousers. Internal Affairs, it will turn out, is a resort in Belize."
