    v4.0-beta — THE FIVE TOWNS

Ghost released this 2026-07-16 13:37:30 +02:00 | 112 commits to main since this release

Five real Australian towns — Katoomba, Newtown, Fremantle, Bendigo, Castlemaine (292 shops) — boot on their
ACTUAL OSM street graphs at real retail density. Pick one from the in-HUD selector; walk its real main street.

    • E widened the towns under John's SUBTLE directive, enforced by construction (heroes never subsampled,
texture capped at 3x heroes, deterministic seed-subsample, every drop counted): katoomba 20->80 shops.
    • D proved the directive from the crowd's side (heroes kept footfall 17->19 while the street got 3.8x busier)
and filed the relocation finding: katoomba's pub sat 1,000 m from the retail cluster — a gig with no
      passing crowd.
    • A capped posters, absorbed the densities, biased pickVenues toward retail-cluster adjacency (D's finding —
      D's R21 verify PASSES), and re-pinned the real-town goldens once. Synthetic/fixtures/classic frozen.
    • B ruled the tram by shop adjacency — the alpha tram fronted ZERO shops on 4 of 5 real towns ("it really was
      a highway bus") — runs it in Newtown/Castlemaine, fences the rest, fixed a phantom-stop bug (149 -> 16),
and derived the selector from E's towns index.
    • C published the OSM-class -> archetype mapping and soaked the five towns' doors at density.
    • F gated: 10 towns x 7 gates (boot/determinism/budget/district/roads/tram/noassets), B's tram ruling
verified exactly, the selector ruled always-in-HUD, and the beta money shot — Fremantle's real street at
golden hour, a corridor of shopfronts and a busy crowd.

Lanes A-F, rounds 20-21. qa.sh --strict GREEN; selfcheck 154141/154141. One recorded finding for R22: the
density widening pushed katoomba's venue_night stress view to 221,935 tris (+11%) — draws fine (151/300),
    tris-only; the tri diet is R22's first item. ?classic=1 still byte-identical to v2 (0x3fa36874).
